Hi friends! So, I know I’m a little late on posting this preview/review and video, so my apologies! But, without further adieu, here it is!
The Dyson Airwrap is a new all in one tool that allows you to dry your hair, curl your hair, and smooth and straighten it with one device. The Airwrap has multiple attachments that can be switched out to achieve the specific style you are looking for. I was first introduced to this item from my hair stylist who had played around with it in the Dyson demo store and it intrigued me so on my way out of the mall, I stopped by to take a look and in full impulse purchase mode I took it home with me!
I was really excited to try it out but it took me a week or two to finally get around to it. Truth be told, I don’t wash my hair that often on a weekly basis, so the opportunities were limited. I also am a Drybar Barfly so, I get my hair blown out pretty frequently; I probably should have thought about that before I made such a big purchase as the complete set actually came out to $582.99 after taxes! Dyson gives a 30 day return policy though, so it made buying it that day a little less scary since I could always return it if it didn’t work out. I think there are three options you can purchase; I got the complete set which included the drying attachment, two flat brush options, one round brush, and two sets of curling attachments (two different sizes, and two different directions). Here are the links for the different set types you can purchase.

- Dyson Airwrap™ styler Volume+Shape
- Dyson Airwrap™ styler Smooth+Control
After using it a few times, I decided to film a preview/review for you guys so I could show you how it was working out for me. My initial impressions were that it didn’t work as well as I had hoped. I wanted the curling attachments to be so easy and work really well, but they had a hard time with my thicker hair and I had to use really small sections and I found that only the ends of my hair were getting any shape. I ended up just using the round brush attachment a few times and it was just a simple smooth(er) blow dry. I wouldn’t call it a true blow out, but it was definitely better than just air-drying or using a dryer alone. I also did truly notice that my hair felt healthier using the Dyson tool. I think using a high heat dryer combined with a straightener or curling iron/wand was really causing a lot of damage to my hair, so it was an immediately noticeable improvement after using the Dyson system.
My intent when making the video was to show you how my hair came out using the round brush tool, but I decided to show you the curling attachment first and ended up using it the whole time and showing you how that turned out. Once I was done, I was a bit more pleased with the look and thought I would reconsider my initial impressions about the curling feature.

The Final Verdict…
So, I did end up returning the Airwrap for a few different reasons. One, again, I only wash and dry my own hair about once per week and/or get my hair blown out instead. Two, the cost of the Airwrap system was pretty pricey and I didn’t think that for such little use on my end, that it was worth it. Three, it didn’t work perfectly for me and I found that I only preferred the dryer attachment overall. Which led me to actually just purchase the Dyson supersonic hair dryer. At about $400, the hair dyer was still really pricey so I shopped around and found a refurbished deal at Nordstrom Rack for $250- here’s the link!
I hope you guys found this overview and my personal experience helpful. I know the Airwrap is pretty popular as it’s completely sold out, and I really wish it had worked a bit better for me, but I’m happy to have the hair dryer which will help me eliminate some of the heat damage I’ve been accumulating lately.
Have you guys tried the Airwrap system or hoping to? Drop me a note below and let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions!
