This is a sponsored blog post in partnership with The George of Old Town.
Hi Friends!
Last Sunday, I got to spend the night over at The George of Old Town, and I truly fell in love with the home. It was once owned by George Washington, hence the name The George of Old Town. This property is so gorgeous, it’s been redone, but has definitely kept its original charm. I had the best time shooting both glam and casual looks in all of the beautiful rooms. My Instagram feed is currently filled with photos from here, so be sure to check them out! Remember, you can always find my outfit details here on Occasionally Luxe!
Location & Details
The house is situated at 506 Cameron St. in Old Town Alexandria, which is perfect for walking to all the local hot spots. It also features designated parking, which is a luxury, in and of itself! Aside from the grand entertaining spaces, there are 8 bedrooms, and each room has their own private en suite bathroom. The rooms are all named after Presidents who lived in Virginia.
Statement Spaces
Upon entering the home from the front door, you’ll see two of the most bold and beautiful sitting rooms right off the foyer. When I saw the emerald green living room in photos, I knew I wanted to grab a dress to match it!
The second sitting room is a fun and vibrant, pink based space, with a colorful ode to George Washington. These living rooms make the perfect setup for a micro wedding, or celebration!
Around the Table
The dining room in this home is super spacious, and can accommodate all of your friends and family. It would be so fun to host a brunch or holiday dinner here!
The Kitchen
This home’s gorgeous kitchen has been updated, and is the perfect balance of modern and rustic. The original fireplace creates such a fabulous focal point, along with the stunning beams. Fun fact, back in the day, kitchens were not actually a part of people’s homes, so this kitchen was separate from George’s living space, but it was the one that catered to his household.
The Zachary Taylor Suite
This spacious suite is located in the basement of the home and offers a ton of privacy. There are two full beds, a wet bar, a sitting area, and dining table in this suite. (Photos shown below, are courtesy of The George of Old Town.)
The George Washington Suite
Unfortunately, the GW Suite was already reserved during my visit, so I didn’t get a chance to see it in person. In looking at the photos online, I can definitely tell why it was booked though! It’s such a great space with beautiful decor, and a ton of natural light. You can find more info on this suite HERE. (Photo collage below, courtesy of The George of Old Town.)
The Thomas Jefferson Suite
I actually stayed in the TJ suite during my overnight visit. It’s a really fun room with a ton of space and character. There’s a grand living room with a sleeper sofa, kitchenette, en suite bath, and a large spacious bedroom area. There’s also a private door leading out to the back staircase. This suite felt super private, and I loved the morning sunshine that flooded in.
The William Harrison Room
Ok, so this room was one of my favorites because I love grey and gold combo, and this room nailed it. It also has direct access out to a small balcony, and is super light and bright.
The James Madison Room
I wouldn’t expect anything less than this purple gem, to represent our 4th President. I loved the bold accent color on the ceiling, and the pops of purple throughout the space. This room is situated at the front of the house, and has a fun view of the charming Old Town Alexandria neighborhood. The bathroom in this suite is my favorite; it has so much natural light and is really spacious.
The James Monroe Room
Cool neutrals for the win in this calm and soothing room. I absolutely love all of the gold accents throughout the home, they bring such a polished vibe to all of the spaces.
The John Tyler Mini Suite
So after seeing all of the rooms (not counting the GW suite), I have to say the John Tyler mini suite is my top pick. This room is so soothing and tranquil, I absolutely love the soft blue and white tones, and glam gold accents. You immediately feel at ease and relaxed in this space. The separate sitting area has such an elegant vibe, with the chic blue sofa, and the most gorgeous wallpaper, it’s truly done to perfection.
The Woodrow Wilson Room
Penthouse fun in this colorful attic hideaway! This room almost feels like a secret escape; it’s tucked away behind what you might think is a closet door, but after following the brightly colored steps, you end up in a spacious and vibrant room. It’s perfect for kids, teenagers, or just those who prefer a little extra space for themselves!
