Hi friends! So yesterday I shared an Instagram post with the caption stating that it’s time to reset. I’ve been so busy lately, traveling and celebrating my birthday (the entire month it seems), that I’ve fallen way off track with my healthy habits which include eating better, consistently working out, and getting enough rest. This type of life balance has always been challenging for me. I tend to go full force one way or the other; either I’m so overindulgent and lack self control or I’m hyper-focused and overboard on a specific diet or workout regimen. Trying to find a happy medium is something I continually try and fine tune. Once I reach a fitness goal or see significant progress on the scale, I tend to let loose completely and before you know it, I’m right back to where I started from. It’s a vicious cycle, but little by little, I’m learning to listen to my body and acknowledge how I feel when I’m not doing the right things for myself and trying to remember the payoff when I am maintaining a healthier lifestyle.
Some of the fitness activities I enjoy include soccer; I play on 4 different teams, both women’s and coed, and usually once or twice a week. I also used to do Pilates weekly, but have not been to a class in probably over a year. I need to find a new studio that’s closer to home and get back to classes. I also have a membership to Orange Theory, and while I always appreciate the accomplishment of finishing a class, getting there and being motivated to do it is a struggle for me. It’s especially hard if it’s been a while since I’ve been to class because I know how hard it is going to be, and that I’ll be frustrated with myself when I feel like I can’t keep up. I do need to put those feelings and tendencies to the side so that I can get back on track though. Pledging here to make this happen and to push negativity out of my way!
Another fitness/wellness activity I enjoy are retreats. I love being able to get away and focus on me, and do things that I enjoy with likeminded people. Next week I’m going back to one of my FAVORITE retreats, Soulstice, in Utah. The first time I went was three years ago, after seeing how amazing it looked on Instagram. I went by myself without knowing anyone and to be honest, I almost backed out on the way to the airport. I was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t in peak fitness shape and so scared to embarrass myself. I am sooooo glad I did not give into my fear and back out. I met some of the most amazing people there and had the BEST time, and I’ve continued to go every year since. The friends I first made are still people I keep up with; everyone was so welcoming and friendly, especially the staff who I look forward to seeing every year. In the past, the retreat has been in the summer, but this year it will be in October and I’m excited to see Park City in the fall! It also comes at a great time for me as I mentioned that I’m ready to reset and refocus and get back to healthier habits. This will be a great trip for me to recharge and really start my reset off on the right foot. The retreat is hosted by Albion Fit, which has the absolute cutest, comfiest, active, leisure, and lifestyle apparel out there. Each year during this trip, I stock up on new Albion apparel (one of the perks of the retreat!). One of my favorite activities from the retreat is SUP yoga in a crater, I always look forward to this class, as well as the aerial yoga class–both are so much fun! In addition, there are always creative classes such as photography, floral arranging, painting, cooking, and book club, to name a few. I’ll be sure to document this year’s retreat on my blog when I return so keep an eye out on a future post all about it! In the meantime, here are some photos from last year.
Also, just a reminder that the workout gear I was wearing in my last Instagram post is still on sale for 40% off from Nordstrom! The set is from Zella and both are so comfy and cute, you just can’t help but be motivated to work out! ๐ Click HERE to shop these items directly!
