Hi friends!
I’m teaming up with Wayfair again to bring you The Winter Edit, a collection of advice, inspiration, and trends for the upcoming season!
Winter Decorating Q & A with Lisa of Occasionally Luxe
Wayfair: What kinds of design projects are you working on this season?
Occasionally Luxe: Well, I actually have a two new home projects on tap right now! I’m excited because they are two totally different projects/styles, and they are letting me really expand and explore my design options.
Wayfair: Are there any design trends or traditions you are loving right now?
Occasionally Luxe: For one of my new projects, the modern farmhouse trend has been the perfect style for me to incorporate. I’m taking a lot of inspiration from it, but still keeping the overall vibe within my classic & chic aesthetic!
Wayfair: Which color palettes are speaking to you this season?
Occasionally Luxe: Well year round, I love golds and whites, and grays and blues. Luckily I’m able to incorporate both palettes into these two projects. The gold and white is also great for the holidays!
Wayfair: What are a few ways people can spruce up their homes with holiday decor while on a budget?
Occasionally Luxe: I love to talk about this exact topic! I recently put up a blog post for 5 Tips for Holiday Decorating, which were all budget friendly recommendations. I personally don’t go overboard on holiday decorating; I like to keep things clean and simple, so my tips include using small items with big impact. Accessories such as decorative pillows, and small home holiday accents like whimsical trees, wreaths, and candles, can really help change up a space. I think classic holiday decor is so chic and timeless, and you don’t have to buy new stuff every year, you can just add a few additional touches to mix things up over time.

Black Friday is Almost Here!
Occasionally Luxe on Black Friday Shopping:
I love shopping sales, and some of the best deals are always for Black Friday. Retailers have started earlier and earlier, and already have some great pre-Black Friday promotions going on. If I have something specific I’m looking for, I usually wait and see what holiday sales are available, but in all honesty, I have a very small circle that I get holiday gifts for. I won’t lie, I mostly shop for myself lol! I’ve always enjoyed online shopping, especially during crowded times like Black Friday, this year however, I think it’s the best way to go with the pandemic still in play. I think it’s also smart not to buy just to buy, or just because something is on sale. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way, so the best method that works for me is to make a list and stick to it.
I’m also excited because the two home projects I’m working on will include home appliances, so I was eager to check out Wayfair’s early sales. For those of you also working on home renovations, Wayfair has what you need for dream appliance updates and more, including ranges, range hoods, refrigerators, beverage refrigerators, washing machines, and dryers. It’s always a good idea to scout out potential deals on site for these major reno items in advance of Black Friday!
Holiday Decor
If you’re hosting for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Hanukkah this year, you’ll probably want to start checking all the boxes on your holiday prep checklist before your (quarantine appropriate) gathering kicks off.
Occasionally Luxe Tips for On-Point Holiday Decor:
As I mentioned before, I really prefer a classic and simple holiday set up. I love pops of color like red, green, and gold, and those accents are so easy to add with festive holiday pillows, and accents.
